Dublin,
Ireland
Templeogue (Irish Teach Mealóg) is a suburb of southwest Dublin. The original Irish name Teach Mealóg refers to a chapel built there by Saint Mel in about 1273. It is part of the postal district of Dublin 6W and is in the administrative jurisdiction of South Dublin County Council. Although surrounded by pubs in adjacent neighbourhoods, Templeogue has only one pub inside its boundaries, The Morgue, formerly named The Templeogue Inn. In the 19th and early 20th centuries, the Dublin and Blessington Steam Tramway passed through Templeogue so close to the pub that many deaths occurred. Corpses were often sheltered in the pub until taken away and the pub acquired the permanent, morbid nickname.
