The Village Bakery

The Village Bakery Bakeries · Terenure

The place looks nice from the outside - even if they did paint over the redbricks and ruin a terrace. I went there twice. First time the server knocked a half dozen rolls on the floor and made a big show of putting them away somewhere (unseen) out the back. I bought a Vienna roll which looked a...

I was here for the opening night and I was very impressed with it. The modern glassy frontage belies the inner traditional auditorium. I was sitting very close to the stage so I cannot judge how good an experience the people at the back had but I cannot find fault with my experience.
There are ...

I had early bird here recently which I enjoyed immensely. €20 per head. I had a chicken starter and a lamb main course. My partner had lamb starter and fish curry main course. Everything was really tasty but the service was almost too speedy considering it was a Sunday and there weren't customers...

Following a disastrous experience a few doors down in Brambles we ended up here for breakfast. I had my heart set on eggs benedict which wasn't on the menu but I settled for poached eggs which were absolutely perfect when they arrived. And I think they cost less than a fiver. Also they were serve...

Well I revisited Brambles last Saturday and I have to take back everything that I wrote 12 months ago. We were shown to a table, given menus and left there for over 10 minutes while the waitresses cavorted with the waiter behind the counter. We left due to lack of attention and don't intend to ...

MacNean house offers a dining experience of the highest order. During our visit there we were presented with dishes that were such works of art it was almost a shame to eat them!

There is an €85 (€125 inc wine selection) tasting menu or €70 dinner menu which is what we ordered. I had a star...

I don't like bagels but I do like tea, coffee and hot chocolate. I've been attending a class in Dundrum for the past few weeks and we go here afterwards for a chat and refreshments. Being a newcomer to the class I wasn't about to suggest a different venue.
The first week I had tea which wasn't...

A winner.

Consistently good food, service and attention.

Absolutely worth investigating if you are in Dingle with some time and money to spare.

One of my favourites. Fresh fish only - luckily for me there has always been somebody around to land a catch!
It's a funny little place - a higgledy piggledy old cottage with a lean to knocked through and a deck for al fresco dining.
It's not cheap but the food is fabulous if you like fish. ...

Any bride on a budget should definitely make an appointment to view the dresses here. Contrary to popular belief most of the dresses here are new - being discontinued stock from various wedding shops around the country.

There is also a great selection of accessories (new and used) - shoes, v...

We stopped in here the other night for a quick drink and we were so overwhelmed by the stench of stale food that we turned round and left immediately.

We had chosen here over the 108 on the basis that it looked nicer... What's that they say about judging books by their cover?

We went to t...

Ate here recently and was very pleased. The early bird menu was exceedingly good value. I had carpaccio of tuna (yummy), followed by grilled lamb's liver which I often order when I see it on menus as nobody else in my house will touch the stuff. It was really good.

My partner had confit of ...

Four of us ate here recently and we were all very happy with the food, service, ambience ... the lot.

I had a dozen or so of the tenderest snails I've ever had; served with a garlic herb sauce that didn't kill their flavour. This was followed by braised rabbit which fell away nicely from the ...

I'm not very impressed with this theatre. I only go to shows here if I REALLY don't think I'll get a chance to see them elsewhere. The last 3 times I went I found what irritated me, beyond reason - I might add, was the quality of the programme. On 2 occasions this consisted of the play script...

Sunday breakfast. Small fry. Luckily I specifically asked for my egg to be soft and not runny otherwise I would have got the disgraceful things my partner got - turned and dirty looking. Why can't they use clean oil? My rasher had been left on the pan too long and had a brown 'sticking' mark...

We ate here the other night. The staff were friendly and efficient. We had a nice table at hte back of the room. I ordered scallops to start and himself had the frog's legs. I was disappointed with the scallops which were the tiniest things I have ever seen, no bigger than marrowfat peas. Al...

Had a lovely al fresco lunch here on Sunday last. The food was superb. I had a chicken liver and roasted root vegetable dish and himself had the goat's cheese offering which I didn't taste because I absolutely loathe goat's cheese. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and were entertained by swallo...

Sure I did my first penance, first communion, I was confirmed and married here I'd have to recommend it.

Only thing is they painted the beautiful external timber doors a few years ago and they do't look as nice as they could.

First I have to say that this is a terrible photo!

I used to go to Neville for years and only changed because I believe it is necessary to change your hairdresser every once in a while otherwise you can get stuck in a rut - hairwise.

So, while I don't go there now, I would recommend this sa...
