My friend and I have been to Alfie to book my birthday party and the manager was really nice to us.
He allowed us to bring balloons and our cake, which they would cut for us.
We celebrate my birthday together with 15 friends. We asked the staff if it’s ok to bring the cake at midnight and they said there is no problem with that. When midnight came, they light up candles and brought the cake as promised. Everything was perfect until the moment we asked them to cut the cake. The waitress came back saying that the kitchen is closed so they are not allowed to cut the cake. Another staff said, we were not supposed to bring our own cake in. My husband asked for manager for help, but he was not working there that time, so another staff which was covering him came and just repeat the same. He said, they allow us to bring a cake, but after the party we are supposed to take it with us. We try to explain that, when they allowed us to bring the cake they also said they would cut it for us. We wanted to share it with friends, not to take it home.
After a while next excuse was that, they are closing the bar, so can’t do anything for us.
They really screwed my birthday party, instead of going home with great memories, we left upset and searched for another pub, where they did let us in with cake and they also cut it. I won’t be back there, I am sure. The organization and staff training is poor, they don’t know how to look after customers.

The only thing the restaurant has got going for itself is the chef because the food was lovely … service appalling.
One of my friends recommended Alfies when we were trying to decide where to go for our annual meal out, I booked a table for 11 people two weeks in advance. We had decided to meet up early for cocktails in the restaurant bar before our meal at 8.30.
This is where the restaurant management really fell short in the customer service area, we were greeted at the door by the floor manageress with the information that they had given our table away and a shrug of the shoulders, they claimed they had phoned me several times that day to see if we still wanted the table. I received ONE missed call on my phone at 5.27pm, there was NO message left to say “ please let the restaurant know if you no longer require your table” there was no message.
We were left waiting an hour and a half for a table and because it was a Saturday night and a large group we didn’t think any other restaurant would be able to accommodate us or we would have left.
