Avoca started as a small shop at the Avoca Mill in Wicklow. From simply selling its own rugs, throws and scarves, Avoca now stocks literally thousands of products from kidswear and toys to knitwear and jewelery. Avoca sells women's and men's clothing, ceramics, glass, books, gifts and homewares (stocking brands like Nicholas Mosse Pottery). In many of it's stores you'll find foodhalls, kitchen shops, graden centres or one of it's award-winning Avoca Cafés.

The restaurant upstairs in Avoca is just unreasonably nice. It's a little on the pricy side, but it is worth it. They have some impressively different stuff on offer, with everything from burgers to pasta to an Indian lamb... dish? Alright, so I don't know what exactly it was, but I do know it was delicious! I went for the burger myself, because I'm a dull and boring human being, but I had to admit that they managed to make it interesting all the same. First off, the burger was huge! I mean, over an inch of meat and the buns were just as big too, so you ended up trying to squeeze half a foot of food into your mouth all at once. Not easy, but I managed to nibble away at it until it was a reasonable size. I would have loved to try a desert afterwards, because they looked delicious, but I was just too stuffed for anything else! A great feed at an okay price.

It's probably the most place in the whole city with Irish Mammies, but it really does deserve all the attention it gets. When you go inside it might look like it's all big woolly jumpers and cook books, but hiding downstairs is one of the best cafes and food stores in the whole city. They do a great selection of delicious food and hot drinks for a pretty reasonable price, and the portions are always pretty generous. Their soups are always fresh, as is the brown bread that comes with it and their selection of cakes is so good it's often hard to choose just one! There's also a great selection of cakes and treats that you can buy to take away and a fantastic selection of jams and preserves, if any of those take your fancy.
