It's a really, really nice venue and it gets some great shows (the alleged charlatan Sally Morgan, who was probably found out here, notwithstanding). I've had a couple of dud shows where the seats haven't been great (if you're too close or too high the view can be a bit crap), but the seats are comfy, the venue itself has a really nice feel to it and is always very clean and the staff have always been top notch. The only real complaint I'd have is that tickets tend to be very pricy, but they do go for that west-end style of performance, so maybe it's to be expected. Highly recommend it, though.
Pretty trendy modern venue. Building looks class and is very modern inside. Only complaint was it's hard for an act to get a buzz going as it's a little too modern and balconys are quite far away. Beware of any shows with lights! I was almost blinded about half way through Josh Ritter, luckily the music more than made up for it.
Pros: Modern, futuristic, great for non-interactive shows
Cons: Size (?) and getting the crowd going for a live gig.

Sat in the stalls for a show here recently. Very impressed. The seats were spacious and comfortable and there was plenty of leg room. Air conditioning was fantastic as often these events can be quite hot and stuffy. Getting in and getting out of the theatre was very smooth. With a number of great shows coming up I'd recommend the Grand Canal Theatre to everybody

I was here for the opening night and I was very impressed with it. The modern glassy frontage belies the inner traditional auditorium. I was sitting very close to the stage so I cannot judge how good an experience the people at the back had but I cannot find fault with my experience.
There are bars on every level and you can look out on to the water from all of them - albeit with a bit of difficulty on the ground floor. We went to the top floor bar to see the view.
There is a also a VIP bar which I'm sure can be rented for corporate events or to which Mr Crosbie can bring his guests.
Great addition to post Celtic Tiger Dublin (last roar?). A theatre we can be proud of, not least because it represents another notable piece of modern architecture for the city.
Way ahead of the new O2 as a venue and more comfortable than the Gaiety. I will probably go to see events there that I wouldn't make the effort for elsewhere.
