Talk about a restaurant that seem to have given up the ghost, what was once so fun and vibrant with bright colours and happy staff is well, now, brown, with a bloodyt Starbucks in the foyer.

The Nasi Goreng from here is one of my favourites but with the lackluster staff and Starbucks gauntlet you have to run just to get in I can only thank Jebus for opening a Mao takeout in Ballinteer

had a choice between Siam Thai and Cafe Mao for a late lunch on Sunday,
I have rarely witnessed such a contrast between quality of food and quality of service.
I had tempura Prawns and Pork Belly, my wife had Satay chicken and Salmon, the kids had lemon sole and chicken curry, the food was great, but the service was beyond bad. I am not exagerating that we had to ask for the table to be cleared after half an hour, and that not once was our table wiped down.

It would be easy to say that the place just is not family friendly, but it goes much further than that, we were sitting right beside the food counter, so every member of staff had to have seen the state our table was in and chose to ignore it, an easy fix would be to have one floor manager who knew the services industry on the premises, no services professional would have allowed this to happen.

In summary, good food, reasonable price, appallingly bad service, so if you prefer funky decor to a good dining experience, this is the place for you
