Captain Americas brought the original burger to Ireland back in December 1971. Since then it has continued to serve good quality American style food at great value prices. Over the years Captain Americas has collected hundreds of pieces of memorabilia from visiting Irish and international stars such as U2, Colin Farrell, Westlife, Debbie Harry, David Bowie and Green Day - to name just a few! The memorabilia hangs from the walls, creating a unique and interesting atmosphere.

I recently brought my 7 year old son here as a treat and he absolutely loved it. He couldn't stop looking around him there was so much to keep him occupied throughout the meal. He loved the food and the dessert . He cleared the plates which doesn't happen very often. We were given a form to fill in so he gets a card and voucher on his birthday and is very excited about this. The staff were lovely and friendly and attentive which for me makes the experienced so much better. I found the food a bit lacking and the side salad awful. Saying that i would go again as its a great family place (I'd just try something different the next time.

It's unfortunate that this place is probably most often held up as representing American cuisine, because it really doesn't do it justice. The food here is average at best, I've been here a few times and I don't think I've ever had a great meal. I've had some good ones, but never a great one. The place itself is fun and has a nice style halfway between a comic book and the Hard Rock Café, but the food just isn't that great and the prices are even worse, unless you can get a lunch special deal or something. I'd give it a miss and walk down the road to Counter if you're looking for a proper burger.
