We returned to Chapter One recently and had a really enjoyable meal - the food was fantastic, the wine was super and the atmosphere was great. What I really love about Chapter One is that although it is a Michelin starred restaurant it has still managed to maintain a sense of normality about it - the stuffiness that often comes with other michelin restaurants is thankfully missing. Having said that the staff are excellent; managing to be attentive whilst understanding that you just want to be able to enjoy the good food and company - they float around the room and manage to get everything done without the palava seen in other such restaurants.
All in all we had a really lovely night and look forward to going back soon.

I was here again on Saturday, however this time it was more of a pre-match than a pre-theatre dinner. As always, the service, food and atmosphere was second to none. As I mentioned in my previous review, one of my favourite things about pre-theatre dining here is that they will even go as far as to collect your tickets from the box office of 'The Gate'. I saw the waiter heading out the door to pick-up tickets for the other pre-theatre diners so I jokingly inquired if he'd pop down to Croke Park and pick-up some tickets off a tout for me - they're so helpful I think he might have!! ;)

What I really admire about Chapter One is that even with it's recently acquired Michelin Star things have remained the same, and although sophisticated, it is in no way pretentious and unlike other Michelin Star restaurants it's not just a cathedral to food . That said, given the chance (and the money), I would be there every Sunday!

While the other reviewer has focused on the pre-theatre menu, having used Chapter One's John Jameson private dining room - it's service, attention to detail and food is top quality. From the moment of entry until leaving several hours later we were waited on and given a full run down of the menu by co-owner Martin Corbett. Nothing was overlooked or too much trouble and I would say all patrons are treated in the same fashion.
Definitely one to try!

I like Chapter One a lot, in my opinion it has one of the best pre-theatre menus in Dublin and funnily enough it's probably the only pre-theatre restaurant where I actually go to the theatre after it! Having enjoyed both the standard à la carte and private dining here, I still feel the best way to experience Chapter One is pre-theatre (followed by a trip to the nearby Gate Theatre). The pre-theatre experience in Chapter One is second to none and just because you're skimping on price, doesn't mean they skimp on service or quality. As anyone who knows me will vouch, I have a tendency to be late quite a lot and early bird dining doesn't really help my cause but it’s like the Chapter One staff already know this. They’re so helpful they will even offer to collect your tickets from the box office of the Gate if things aren't going to schedule - which has got me out of a tight spot once or twice! Another nice touch is that you can postpone your tea/coffee & dessert until after the performance. As pre-theatre dining goes Chapter one is a tough act to follow!
