This is the best off license in Rathmines, in my opinion. Not only is there a much wider and quirkier selection than the Tesco one across the road, but it also has very friendly employees who are more than willing to offer suggestions. It's gorgeous inside and not tiny by any means, so definitely my go-to whenever I'm in the area.

Whenever I get a 'Saba to go' (the Asian takeaway just around the corner) I usually grab a bottle of wine from here (day of the week permitting!). Deveney's is an old skool off licence and has a much better selection of wine than it's Tesco counterpart (across the road). If you're into your white wine, cava, prosecco, etc. they have a good selection of wine refrigerated, this is one of the things I like best about this place as I tend to buy to drink - the cellar can wait! I'm giving Deveney's 3 stars as there was a bit of love lost between us recently - I bought a bottle of Cava and two bottles of sparkling water but when I got home it turned out that the water's best before date had come and gone - unlike wine, water doesn't improve with time! That said, I've gone back since... but it's now Deveney's for wine and Tescos for water.
