Dublin Zoo was opened in 1831 by the then Royal Zoological Society of Ireland. The zoo houses many wild and endangered animals - there are tigers, hippos, bats, lions, rare monkeys, gorillas, orangutans, chimpanzees and red pandas to name but a few of the amazing animals you'll find waiting for you at Dublin Zoo!

Love the Zoo, it a great way to pass the day and easy to bring a picnic too. Great amount of stuff to do and fantastic animals. The work carried our in recent years on different areas is fantastic and we love the African Plains

Dublin Zoo... it does exactly what it says on the tin!
Like many others I returned after what is at least a ten year gap since my last visit, and yep, its still as much fun and excitement as when I was a wee bit younger. The place is twice as big now and most of the areas have been revamped (though the seals and penguin area might need a paint job)
The key to a good day out is go early to avoid the pack (no puns intended).
Pros: Animals, animals and animals! Big open space and plenty of walking. Meercats in a restaurant (now why didn't I think of that!)
Cons: still a bit sad to see animals in captivity but has to be done as their habitats disappear.

Keywords: zoo, tourism, park
