Its a bit of a fixture in the Templebar "scene". God knows why. It is a pretty decent pub in most repects. The pints are good (upstairs), the music is decent (upstairs) and they are serving food now (though I haven't tried it yet). There is also the pizza served at the entrance which is excellent and perfect for post-piss-up soakage. The problems start when you venture into "the venue" downstairs. It is on two levels, the main floor with the bar and stage, and a lower area, titled "the dungeon". A bar here opens when its busy. As a live music venue goes it could be decent, but usually the acoustics are so muddy and the volumes so loud that very little can be discerned, except to say that 75% of the bands I've seen in there are shite. The pints are often undrinkable, the service lousy if there are more than five people in the place and the toilets are the kind you see in places that relied on cigarette smoke to mask the smell. Needless to say they could do with an overhaul. So to be clear, the 3 stars are for the main bar. Venture into the pit at your own peril.
