Eircon broadband network and service is not good. You can look through any newspaper and read about that, it's no secret. But you don't hear too much about how incredibly poor their Customer Care is (don't call it Customer Services, they don't seem to like that!).

I had to contact them recently to have my broadband moved from one telephone line to another - pretty simple these days, right!?

Ehh, no. I've had regular contact with them for well over two weeks and I still have another week and a day to go before the tech can come out to the house to see why the 'enabled line' is not working. If you have to wait on a waiting list for this type of thing, you have to wait. Unfortunately though, one of their payrollers decided to cancel the appointment (without telling anyone who cared to listen), which simply means we have to wait (even) longer.

When you ring the Billing dept don't expect that they will be able to adjust your bill for any days that you have not had the service. They cannot do this. You need to contact Customer Care. Tech Support cannot upgrade your connection speed to what it should be, that's Billing. Ringing at the weekends leads you into a false trail of hope as you enter your telephone number and account details, are re-routed and then having waited for 5 minutes, are told that the dept you are trying to contact only operate during the week. It might make more sense to have this the other way around. Hanging up on you is also popular with these guys, as is "I'm sorry you feel that way, but there's nothing I can do".

Dealing with Eircom just makes you tired and cranky.
