Reviews for Forbidden Planet
Write a Review Forbidden Planet reviews feedForbidden Planet's easily the biggest store for the nerds and geeks of Dublin, but that's not to say it's the best, necessarily. It's a great spot, no doubt about it, but it dedicates the top half of the store entirely to nerdy toys. Which is fine, it's great if you're looking for a present for a teenager who loves their Doctor Who, but not so great if you're a twenty-something geek trying to find a DVD collection of the Classic Who series.
That's the thing that slightly unsettles me about Forbidden Planet, they dedicate more space to merchandising for Batman than they do on Batman comics, and I think that's what sets them apart from somewhere like Sub City, which is all about the comics themselves. Forbidden Planet is run as a business out to make money (which is fine) rather than as a business that's there to supply nerdy goodness to the masses. In terms of sheer square footage, it's great. It's big, they have lots of stuff, and the staff tend to know their shit, so it's all good, but it's not got much in the way of heart.
Good selection of manga, animé, comics, toys, etc. Prices are a little expensive though, but this shop is as central as you can get to purchase your favourite goodies.
