Furama is a really good Chinese restaurant... and do they know it! Not only is the exterior wall covered in plaques, awards and medals but the reception area and entrance hall are too. Another touch that adds to the exclusivity of this place is the fact you must ring a doorbell to gain entry.

I get the feeling this place is a favourite amongst locals as it is a restaurant that I've driven by many times over the years but would never have given it a second look until it was recommended to me recently by two separate people living in the area.

While the food is excellent (probably the best beef I've ever had from a Chinese) and the interior cosy & atmospheric, I do have a gripe.... they offer a take-away service which uses the exact same menu as the restaurant, however on Friday and Saturday nights they only knock 10% off the 'à la carte' menu price for a take-away. I feel this is a bit rich... and you need to be too - I can't speak for everyone when I say this but I do find the table service in restaurants to be more than 10% better than the couch, take-away & DVD service you find in my house on a Saturday night!!! With these kinda prices (and all the awkward doorbell-ing required to collect your food!), it's like they're trying to discourage take-aways on these nights, that said, they have a lot of printed take-away menus hanging around the reception area which would suggest that they are actively trying to promote the service.

In summary, I'd highly recommend this place but I'd only use their take-away service on week nights. You can also avoid the doorbell-ing by availing of their delivery service too!
