Reviews for Gibsons Deli & Bakery
Write a Review Gibsons Deli & Bakery reviews feedI can understand why some of the reviews below are a bit negative, but I love this place. They're not exactly the friendliest, it's true, but the service is really very good. There's nothing fake about the staff here, no pointless chit-chat or big smiles to get bigger tips, they just want to get your order and get it out to you as efficiently as possible.
More importantly, the food is really tasty and they have a really nice range of hot chocolates (and coffees, although my sweet tooth tends to win me over when I'm in there). Much more than your usual choice of "hot chocolate with or without marshmellows?" you can also get caramel or hazelnut hot chocolates, both of which are really tasty. The sandwiches and breakfasts are also very nice and filling, if a bit expensive, and they always have a lovely selection of tarts too.

I've been there a couple of times for an afternoon treat and I have to say that, despite the fact that the place is lovely, the food very nice, the service is terrible, very rude. They don't make you feel welcome there at all and you just feel like finishing your scone and run away to a better place. I'll go back there if all the others cafes in the area are closed.

Gibsons puts the "deli" in "delicious"! Although I have only eaten here at lunchtime, it has quickly become my favourite sandwich spot in the city. If you can drag yourself away from the delectable tarts and pastries in the front, you'll find yourself sitting in a quaint little area that is best described as a hybrid between a French cafe and my grandmother's living room.
If you're running short on time, however, you can also order your meal to go. Regardless, expect to spend some time deliberating; everything on the menu is indeed just as delicious as it sounds! Whether you order soup, quiche, a sandwich, or something sweet, you will not be disappointed. (I try to make myself try something new each time, but keep coming back to The Gib as my favourite.) With a central location and a delicious menu, Gibsons is the perfect place to enjoy a midday meal.
Really bad service, rudeness at its FINEST, switching on the lights and stopping the music to push customers away at 10:30 on a Saturday night.
We ll never go back again!!! And I encourage other people to do the same and to walk a little further where some serious and welcoming restaurants are situated.
