This place is always good. The menu stays pretty much the same and I generally tend to go for one of two things - either the chicken korma with rice or the kebab, with rice (that's the kebab in the picture) - it's good and alot easier to eat than the doner. There are other things on the menu - burgers & pizza and a few other basics too. The staff are friendly and can be jokey at times which makes it nice and relaxed. As a spot for lunch this is a great change from the more normal mainstream places....worth a go if you're in the area and in need of a (fairly) substantial feed....

Grabbed lunch here today, first time in ages. It was a bit like a scene from a Kellogg's Cornflakes commercial... i.e. I forgot how good it tasted! The Golden Olive Restaurant forms part of the Islamic Cultural Centre of Ireland and so is an interesting place to go and visit even if you're not having lunch. There is a real sense of community about this place and everyone is really friendly - as it's not unusual to experience a bit of banter while waiting in the queue (I've even had mint tea bought for me on the back of it!:) ). There's sunken seating outside which makes it a great place to catch a few rays during the summer months. Every time I visit here, I like to stop off in the shop on the way out where you can pick-up some really exotic foods and some not so exotic things like cans of Coke and Mars Bars - I'd highly recommend the baklava. In the restaurant itself, I tend to go for the kebab or Chicken Korma, both of which are excellent. There's also an interesting salad bar and the mint tea is the best I've had... so all in all a five star lunch spot! TIP: If you're in a rush make sure you don't arrive during prayer time (http://www.asfory.com/muslim_prayer_times/dublin_ireland.html) as the chefs will be praying! Also it's worth bearing in mind that the restaurant operates different hours during Ramadan, i.e. evening service only.
