I agree with some of Nick O's points - it does seem to be a bit of a meat market, but like any meat market, the quality of the cut differs on different days. The music is loud and there can be some barging, but to be honest it's not the type of place you'd go for a quiet pint anyway so it's to be expected. They do charge-in after a certain time - not sure what it is but it's not ridiculously early - a big improvement on what it used to be a few years ago...
This is a megapub in the mould of Cafe en Seine, Zanzibar etc. I was there on a Friday night. It was loud, packed full of kiddies, expensive and reminded one of a meat market in the pub/nightclub sense. My companions and I found it quite dificult to conduct a conversation because of the loud music and people barging past. As I was leaving I noted there was a ridiculously long queue and they were charging in. I describe it as expensive because of this. I probably would have loved it if I was ten years younger.
