This is a great little spot for a real coffee, excelent parma ham platters and exceptionally tasty Italian "sandwiches" (probably better said bochadillo??). Myself and my wife love stopping here for a coffee whenever we're in Howth.

Not in my local area and desperately in need of a decent coffee, I stumbled upon what can only be described as the Italian quarter of Howth or 'Il Panorama Café' as it's known locally. I stepped up to the counter with the expectation of ordering an espresso "to go" and was greeted by a "Ciao!" (which is always a good sign)... I went on to place my order but my request was declined and it was quickly pointed out that espresso "to go" is not the done thing (in Italy) - someone should tell this to Starbucks and the like. It makes sense really as it only took two minutes in total from the time they started to make it, to the moment I finished devouring it. The espresso was made with Moak coffee (the Illy of Sicily) and it really hit the spot. While I was waiting for my coffee, I happened to spy some Gnocchi which was on display with some other food for sale. I bought a kilogram of it and I was given a quick course on how to cook it - after the "to go" mistake earlier, I think my Italian friend thought better of it than to let me loose in the wild with a kilogram of Gnocchi without offering me some sort of guidance or advice. So what started off as simply grabbing a quick coffee, ended up being quite the Italian experience, this place is the real deal - 5 stars from me!
