Great place to grab a pint and some food, whether you're a tourist or a local - a tourist trap worth falling into!

Great Pub, Great Music, Great Atmosphere, set off on a group cycle and ended up with a cool drink at the highest pub in Ireland. There were a few groups in for a Tuesday night, and everyone was in great spirits, didn't try the food, but it looked fabulous.

Will definitely be back, perfect for tourists to get a feel for rural Ireland, just a short skip from the capital!

What can you say - one of the best places to bring tourists and show them how we all spend our spare time dancing, drinking, throwing out one-liners and having the craic....

My memory of the food here was that it wasn't too memorable, so with my expectations nice and low, I was pleasantly surprised. I was here for the Hooley Show, which consists of a trad band performing for a bit and then a dance troop tapping out some Riverdance-esque routine - which is pretty impressive when you are so up close and personal to their metal soled shoes; all while you eat your meal. I had prawns to start, steak for my main and Tiramisu for dessert. All good (except they only do boiled potatoes which is a bit too much tradition for me). All in all a good night and one which your guests will remember....fondly.

Isn't it great being a tourist in your own town?

Highly recommend Johnny Fox's at any time of the day, during any time of the year.

If you're having lunch or dinner and wouldn't be a large eater, watch out for the generous servings - I always find a starter Smoke Salmon Tagliatelle is perfectly adequate as a main meal. One has to leave some room for the Guinness!

Getting home isn't as hard as it used to be. The bar staff will gladly call a taxi for you, so no need to worry. Don't forget the 44B bus stops outside the pub, so no excuse!

If you intend on using your mobile phone, be warned that it will only catch a signal in certain parts of the car park - imagine that in the snow!

You can also hire out the main "Hooley Room" for events which is always super to bear in mind. We went there right after my sisters wedding mass to warm up before the main event in the Druid's Glen and had some super finger food and and catch up with all the guests.

Slainte!

Great mountain setting, tasty grub and sing along hand clapping live music (that might be an invitation or a warning, depending on your taste). Maybe not the best Guinness in Dublin, but the cosy interior makes up for it. When you need to keep a tourist busy for a couple of hours, this place is an obvious choice.
