I am writing this post out of frustration with Kitchen World and feel it is my only remaining avenue of redress, while warning other potential customers of the abysmal treatment and shocking treatment I have received at the hands of Kitchen World.
My story starts with a visit to Kitchen World in Waterford where I was met with a friendly salesman who was very helpful in designing the kitchen and sliding wardrobes I wanted. I thought I was in the safe hands of a company that actually cared about customer satisfaction, but all of this was a facade. After paying in full works commenced in the house with the kitchen and wardrobes taking 3 days in total to be installed, not long after that I moved into the house I began to notice problems with the kitchen and sliding wardrobe. The kitchen counter had small dents in it, the mirror in the sliding wardrobe had black spots in a number of spots and the extractor fan was not extracting and water was dripping out of it. There were also scratches on a lot of the kitchen handles and there was a chunk gone out of one of the drawers
As you can imagine I was quite concerned and contacted Kitchen World, the sales man who I had been dealing with escalated it to the fitting department in Dublin as this is where my house was. While discussing the issue with the salesman he admitted to me that they have had problems before with the kitchen counters and dents forming something to do with the glue and the laminating, I was temporarily at ease as this seemed to be a normal problem and he was getting people onto fixing the issues right away.
The next month involved me making countless phone calls to kitchen worlds fitting department to man called Gary, of which nothing constructive came. A load of excuses about needing their suppliers (1) counter top, 2) kitchen worktop and 3) extractor fan) to come out to my property on a variety of different days to asses each of the problem individually while constantly telling me there could be charges for the engineers coming out. It got to the stage where I was so fed up, 4 weeks later and nothing being resolved that I posted a review on their Facebook page outlining my dissatisfaction. The next day which was a Saturday I had a phone call telling me that all the issues would be resolved on the coming Wednesday.
Wednesday came and an army of people came out to the house, the kitchen counter was replaced, the mirror in the sliding wardrobe was replaced and the engineer from their supplier examined the extractor fan and discovered that a screw had been incorrectly but into the extractor fan which he removed and it seemed to work perfectly. A manager from kitchen world by the name of Noel was also there who gave me his personal number to contact if I had anymore issues. Despite the inefficiency of Kitchen World and the length of time it took to resolve the issue I was content and removed my original Facebook post criticising kitchen World.
Come the end of August the extractor fan started to drip water again, so without hesitation I rang kitchen World, again they told me their suppliers would have to come out to check the issue. After two weeks and many phone calls there was no sign of the suppliers. I eventually got the number for the suppliers and rang them where they had a fella out the next day. He explained that as someone had put a screw in the extractor that interfered with the extractor process the fan had dipped and that it was no longer covered under their warranty. I rang Noel the manager on the 14th of September 2016. I explained the problem to him and was shocked by his response, he told me that my builder had put the screw in the extractor fan that caused the damage and that basically it was not Kitchens World problem anymore. Since then I have made numerous calls to Kitchen World to try and resolve the situation. The receptionist who answers knows me at this stage and she politely tells me she will take my number and get some to call me back. It is now October and nobody has contacted me from kitchen world and my calls remain unanswered.
After my experience with kitchen world I would strongly discourage anyone from doing business with them. They might have a friendly front office staff but if you have a problem good luck to getting it resolved unless you are willing to spend countless hours and energy chasing a resolution that you might not get. I don’t think I will have this issue resolved so I hope that this post will prevent anyone else from having to go down the unfortunate path I had to.
