Molloys is okay ( ish ) on a weekday at lunchtime, but I decided to get a bite to eat there late afternoon a couple of days ago and was reminded of why the place is below - par. Got myself a "couple" of white pud ( which was interpereted by the assistant as meaning four ), beans, quiche and something else forgettable.

The quiche had a real eggy pong and contained very little other than egg. The white pud was disgusting ... real 'meaty' tasting for my liking, and pasty to the chew. As for the beans, I could have dragged the 'sauce' off them and used it as a napkin. The meal, aside from quiche which was scalding hot, was lukewarm. It also cost - wait for it - €9.20 with coffee!

For €9.20 there are a lot of better options which I'll explore in future. Just sitting there trying to eat this crap my eyes fell on the doormat inside the entrance: one of those standard 'Spring Grove' ones ( about 4 X 3 ) with thin carpet and a rubber edge. All but an inch or two of the edge was missing all 'round. That's fairly odd lack of attention to detail. They must have it since the 1980's.

My best suggestion is, buy some stuff in Dunnes accross the road and wait until you get home to prepare it. Cheaper, and far better quality. Molloy's need to understand - among other things - that the Celtic Tiger days are over.

they were never a great bakery and now they are perhaps the worst breakfast in ireland-watery cheap sausages, leather salty rashers cooked way ahead of time -everything chucked in the deep fat fryer-mushrooms,hash browns and dripping with old trans fat oil. one manic cheery manager, one cashier as insincerely helpful as a a stone. tea that tastes only of disinfectant all for a whopping eight euros;
kippers? porridge. paul rankin sausages????? edible pastries ???? pancakes, rye bread??? hello reality check. their daytime fare is as bad- lazy lazy cookery. the irony is they still do business but what a goldmine it could be
