The NWICWN has CLOSED DOWN. It's aim was to provide a forum for women experiencing exclusion to come together to identify issues which affect their lives and plan collaborative responses to them. Many of the activities of the network are aimed at reducing isolation and building confidence and the skills of local women to participate more assertively in the discussions that affect their lives.

The North West Inner City Womens Network was forced to close early in 2010 due to Irish Government budgetary cuts. Services ended at this centre despite a petition from the local community and a public appeal to keep the centre open which was painted in red right accross the full front of this unit at 91 Manor St.

The aim of the Women's Network had been to reduce isolation and increase the confidence and skills, and thereby opportunities of the clients who availed of this service.

In an area of Dublin city long known as a Red Light district and where many women are victims of the consequences of poverty, domestic violence, drug and alcohol addiction, violent crime and social exclusion, the loss of this service is catastrophic.

The unit is now standing empty. No news feature has so far been published to mark its closure.
