Lives 7.15 km from ODEON Cinema

Went to see a slapstick comedy last night, film wasn't great, but enjoyed the surroundings. While it's not as fancy as it's near neighbours in Dundrum, or the other major players of Dublin Cinema, imho, Cineworld and Vue in Liffey Valley, it has it's own special ambience.

We had a choice of seat as the room was almost empty, but I'd much rather that than have a battle for control of the armrest with a noisy farter.

Same movie, same drinks, same price as all other other cinemas in town.

I hadn't been here for years, probably since the cinema in Dundrum opened and if it's possible to feel sorry for a cinema, I felt very sorry for the Ormonde. At 8pm on a Saturday night the place was absolutely deserted both in the lobby/coffee area and in the cinema itself, I'd say there were no more than 10 people in the film we were at. It actually made a nice change from the cattle mart that is Movies @ Dundrum where you have to battle your way to the top of a queue both to collect your tickets and to spend an outrageous amount of money on a bucket of popcorn. So if you want to avoid the crowds head to Stillorgan for a trip down memory lane and remember to park in the Stillorgan Shopping centre if you don't want to pay the pay and display in the cinema's underground car park.
