I'd go along with what Patrick K has to say. The food here is very good and the service is slow. Not crazy, maybe-we-should-just-leave slow, but it's definitely leisurely. The atmosphere was good the night I was in - lots of happy tourists had migrated up from the pub downstairs. The prices are a bit touristy too though. They're not crazy, but I thought the portion sizes could do with a bit of beefing up to match them - I got the scallops for a starter and there were 3 of them. They were tasty and well presented but I'd have to say for about €12 I'd have expected a few more. For a main I had the baby chicken in poached lemon water which was also good. Desert was the best part though - I had the Chocolate and Banoffe Fondant with ice cream and creme fraiche which was excellent. I don't remember it's price but whatever it was, it was worth it.

Overall very good but they could possibly think about reviewing their prices. Having said that, the place was full so maybe it's just me...

I have visited this restaurant on 2 occasions and both times the food was absolutely outstanding. There are times when you don't want Indian, Chinese, Chipper, Zaytoon etc. food. You don't want seared fois gras with some Heston Bleumental nitrogen infused foam and blue cheese ice cream desert. You just want a reasonably priced good, hearty feed of proper Irish food. Oliver's ticks all the boxes in this regard. My only complaint was the food was very slow coming on my second visit however the creamy pints of Guinness coming up from O Brien's pub below more than made up for this. To be fair to the Maitre d she gave us the deserts on the house even though we did not actually complain. All told I would really recommend eating here and can't wait to go back.
