went here with my GFs and it was nice enough . i had called ahead the night before and tried to book a table for 6 of us and the waiter said they only do bookings for 'large parties' and we could just 'walk right in'. when we walked in the waitress wasnt sure she could fit us in so that irked me a bit.

we got a table downstairs and waited 15 mins before the waiter came over. i had to flag him down. after we ordered our drinks we waited another 10 mins for him to arrive and take our order. he gave us a pen and told us to circle what we wanted on the menu. remember when waiters used to write down their orders? (im talking to you, crackbird peeps)

we then had to flag him down again to come and collect our order...he then made sure i still had his pen, which i understand cos im a waitress but jesus, get more than one pen. all in all from the time we sat down to the time we got our orders in it had been 40 mins.

the food was ok enough - i eat at the porthouse so knew what to expect. we then got dessert and tea/coffee. my friend had to order her tea 3 times. the first time he forgot it altogether. the second time he brought just a pot of water with no cup. the 3rd time he rbought the cup....but no tea bag. finally she got what she asked for after a wiatress had argued with us over what was order. " he only told me he needed this and that etc etc

just get the tea. that's what good waitresses do.

when we got up to pay the waiter asked me at the counter where his pen was (we used it again to figure out the bill) i asked him why he didnt have another one....since he's a waiter and all.

the place is nice and the food is ok but the service as usual threw me off.

I'm updating my review to four stars, I think three is a bit scabby, this is a good spot for tasty good value food in nice surroundings (especially if you like candles!).
