Raters say we are...  homely, small, cafe, coffee, panini, country cooking, take away

I really like Poppies in Enniskerry and was really excited to hear that Poppies was opening in the Dundrum Town Centre. Hoping the initial novelty had worn-off (since it's opening a couple of weeks ago), I headed down there for lunch today. It's definitely got a homely country feel to it as it's not much bigger than my kitchen at home! That said, the food on display is enough to keep you from worrying about the seating difficulties that await. The food here is excellent, I had a ham and cheddar cheese panino with side salad which were both very tasty. I also had a double espresso which was good but looked like it had suffered from McDonalds super-sizing. They also offer a take home menu which is handy to know and because the food is so home-cooked looking (and everyone is now familiar with the old Avoca trick) you might be able to scam a dinner party with their take away service! Food-wise Poppies is 4-5 stars, I've given the place 3 stars because the place was very full (as it was lunch) and even though we were having problems finding a table, the manageress still insisted on occupying a four seater table with her laptop and all her accounts - not cool! I'm also deducting a star for the price - even though the food is excellent, the reality is it's country cooking at city prices, 6.50 for a panino is too much for me. So 3 stars only I'm afraid!
