I walked in off the street to use the Prontaprint on Tara St. the other day. I was looking for 3 copies of an 80 page document printed and bound. I wanted a top quality finish so that's why I went to company like Prontaprint which generally deals mainly with business customers. The process was fairly quick and it was done within 2 hours. I had asked for it to be glue bound and when I had a look at the finished copies, while the print was top quality, the binding was done very poorly. Some of the pages seemed like they were on the verge of falling out. I paid the €105 and went away to get a second opinion, having been told I could bring it back to have it changed to ring binding if I felt it wasn't adequate. My second opinions all felt it was a bad job and so I returned within the hour. The woman at the desk was incredibly unhelpful and insisted I pay to have it rebound. Considering you can get a similar job done in other shops for about €30 I thought that this was an unbelievable request. In the end I paid for it, as I needed to get the job done.
In these recessionary times, sometimes you wonder about attitudes of certain businesses. And then they wonder why they go out of business. For the sake of the €6 to get them rebound should the employee not have made the decision that it was better to keep the customer happy and not have them leave with a bad impression of the place, presumably going on to tell their friends of their experience?
Business is a simple thing. Keep the customer happy.
