Reviews for Rathfarnham Castle Playground

This is a great playground. Only downside is the parking. There is a car park but you have to pay and it is sometimes full. However it is well worth the trip. The playground has (as the location suggests) a large castle like climbing frame and plenty of places to run around. It is a good size and plenty of benches for mums and dads to sit down. Lots of grassy areas around the playground and there is a big pond with ducks in it. It is a good size park so lots of room for walks also.
Also find the hidden playground in the woods on your walk (for older kids). Have never taken a tour of the castle but believe you can do so.
There is a nice little cafe as well.
All in all a great hit with kids and parents alike!
This playground is about a year old - so the facilities are excellent - suitable for all age groups from Toddler up - but keep an eye on them as some of the items are targeted towards bigger kids, as with most playgrounds.
There is a lot of space in the surrounding park to let the kids run around, play football. fly a kite etc. There is a sizable duck pond if you want to feed the already well fed ducks.
There is a short walk through the woods - on which you will find another playground area - which has a few climbing items aimed at bigger kids - 7/8 upwards.
There is a cafe in the castle with Toilets. You can do a tour of the castle -although I haven't done it so not sure what it is like.
