Atmospheric small victorian pub now under FX Buckley Restaurant management. Great pint of Guinness and super steak sandwiches served in the bar. The seafood chowder is also super value - with the brown bread its a full meal. The snugs are great for a small group if you can get a free one.

One of Dublin's authentic Victorian pubs, Ryan's of Parkgate Street is full of character. Quaint and cosy, it's a good spot for a pint after a stroll in the Phoenix Park. Tends to be busy, but this adds to its atmosphere... That said, I've never not managed to find a spare seat or a stool.

If you fancy a feed, there's a small FXB's Restaurant upstairs which does a great value early-bird menu before 7 p.m. The pub grub served downstairs is also very good (-it's cooked in the same kitchen as the FXB's food) and is a slightly cheaper option.
