If you're looking for the most unique burger experience in Dublin, then this is the place for you! (What a world we live in that we can talk about "burger experiences". Oh RateMyArea, what have you done to me...)

While there are some gourmet burger places out there that have a really nice range of interesting burgers, there's nothing that comes close to what's on offer in Counter. When you go in and sit down the first thing they give you is a checklist so you can design the perfect burger for you. You can choose your meat, your bun (or lack of a bun), cheese, veggies and sauces to make the perfect burger. That much choice can be a little intimidating when you first sit down to it and you might be a little conservative with your first burger, but once you get used to it you'll revel in the freedom to create whatever the hell kind of burger you feel like.

It took me a while to give this place a go just because I didn’t think it would be anything special. A friend dragged me in once before a night out and I have been back about 5 times since! I love the way you order your burger by ticking boxes… so much less room for error when you write it down yourself.

A word of advice: never attempt the one-pound burger no matter how hungry you think you are. It is the size of a Frisbee.

Solid burgers, with the added fun of designing them yourself!

Words cannot express the joy I felt when the Internet told me that The Counter had made its way across the pond. And to Dublin, of all places! I first tried it in Chicago, loved it, found the one in Seattle, loved it again, and then came here. And still loved it. A custom-built burger for less than a tenner? In a cool-looking restaurant with really nice service? Worth it.

I am horrible with decisions, so I really SHOULD be terrified of the 300,000+ combinations that lay before me on that wee piece of paper. But no. A Counter burger is worth the pain and time of deliberation. They take the idea of a custom-built burger to a whole new level: after you are seated, you receive a list of all the possible meat/topping/sauce/bun choices. All of these choices have tick boxes next to them. You then tick the boxes next to the things you want on your burger. It's that simple. I've only had the basic beef burger, but next time I'm going to go for chicken. With brie and dried cranberries, perhaps. Mmm... But, yes, regardless of the type of toppings I choose--like the basic lettuce/tomato/pickle/cheddar or more exotic goat cheese/eggs/pineapple/salsa*--I know that they will be delicious. (The grilled onions are superb, though. Whatever you do, get them.)

*You probably don't want to put all of these toppings on the same burger...
