Had damp proofing work done to some walls in our house - 21 year guarantee given, so time will tell as to how successful the proofing has been. However, the job ran way over not due to the fact that the work finished daily at lunchtime but rather that there were several teabreaks & then a lunchbreak each day before workers left. Site manager came & went & finally drafted several plasterers to finish the job in a day. The result was a rushed, rough, poor finishes which I pointed out at the time. Given suggestion as to how we could cover these up when decorating! No effort to put down covering to minimise footpath areas getting marked, not alone was our personal paths extensively marked, there was a mess left in our street. The nature of the work is very messy but there was no effort to ensure property was protected. An effort to clean up was made when pointed out but it didn't make much difference. We found the whole work etiquette very poor. Given we have just come through such a bad recession, you'd think these attitudes would well and truly be gone - in our experience, not so!
