Has to be one of my favourite pubs in Dublin. What makes this for me is that the staff are friendly and receptive. If they will facilitate any request and always seem happy to do it. I usually use it for the midweek early evening time. Any tv request will be facilitated we once asked can Cheltenham be switched over and that was no problem. They will often bring over your drinks rather that waiting at the bar. And for any big games because they seem to be football fiends they tune in hard to get international football via pc from all corners of the world(ask no questions and ill tell you no lies ;-).
That said its not a sports bar or anything like that its actually often a nice quiet place you can come in for a chat and be able to hear yourself speak.
But more importantly the beers!. Its one of the few pubs in Dublin that have more than the Carlsberg, Heineken. They have Tiger, Peroni on tap and one other different one that doesnt come to mind. Also some world bottled beers so you shouldn't be stuck for choice if your one to detest the usual standard beers foisted upon us!. They also have a beer of the day special which they change up from week to week. The barmen work like they have a vested interest in the place and its nice to see barstaff take pride in their job which you dont often see.
If i had to say something against it then it would be the often noticed scent of urinal salts emanating up from the basement toilets(only within a short range of the top of the stairs mind you). They over do the urinal salts in my opinion but this may be a needs must being located in the basement with no natural ventilation.
