The magic carpet, what can one say about this place. I suppose its a love hate relationship with this place. Just recently "done up" it now lost its soul. The new magic carpet now has the feel of any generic "wine bar", white walls, ceilings and chrome fittings. You could be in any other modern bar. New tables and leather chairs and large flat screen tvs and with an extra 15c on top of the pints to pay for the upgrade you'd want to enjoy the new look.

Okay, so the old carpet was dank and dirty but it had character it had atmosphere. I suppose one could always go back in time by walking into the bar to get a feel for the old magic carpet but perhaps it will just take time sitting there drinking pints to get used to the new look.

All in all its still the magic, its home from home, its still 7 mins door to door and its still got the same people so i cant be too harsh but it just doesn't feel right!

its like your long suffering girlfriend with a new haircut and frock, she looks all done up and sporty but she's still the same under the covers a few hours later.
