Rumour has it that gorgeous pint-puller Aoife has been head-hunted from the Porterhouse next door to the Martello. Great coup if true. But I'm still not upping my rating as the previous rater has planted images in my head of the Martello being somewhat like The Late Late Show and I can't quite remove them....

Upstairs is a nice place if you want to bring your Granny for a cup of tea on a Wednesday afternoon. The seats are comfortable and the view is fantastic. Otherwise it's just a bit soulless, there's no real focus to the downstairs and the aforementioned plastic hedges out front just add to the all-round feeling of blandness. Any fun in there has always struck me as being of the forced, rather than spontaneous variety for some reason too.
