The mission of the Library is to collect, preserve, promote and make accessible the documentary and intellectual record of the life of Ireland and to contribute to the provision of access to the larger universe of recorded knowledge. The National Library is open, free of charge, to all those who wish to consult the collections. However, a Reader’s Ticket is necessary and the library does not lend.

They have catholic parish records dating back to the early 19th century (around 1837) so it's a great starting point for anyone interested in tracing their family history. The staff were also very friendly and helpful, especially the security guard on reception (who explained the whole process). There's a nice café on the way in which I look forward to researching too! ;)
