I have been going to this place on and off for about 8 years (?). I'm not sure the place has changed all that much in that time, and frankly there's no reason that it should. Staff have a great attitude, are friendly and very laid back in their manner which I think helps give this place a nice relaxed feel. The food is good (i've only had the pizza though). A little slice of Italy.

I just had a lovely bowl of Linguine al Pesto. It is a nice simple dish. They do one of the best, though it is a little more expensive then I would like. In Dunne & Crescenzi it was only €8 when I asked for it, but it is €13 here, and that is a big difference.

I had a nice little espresso after it though. But again, expensive. The total for linguine and espresso was €15.20. That is a lot.

So, great food, though very expensive.

Steps of Rome is downturn friendly as it means you can still enjoy genuine Italian fare for the price of a Dublin Bus fare (and not a trip to Rome!). This place serves-up some of the best coffee and tastiest pizza you'll find in Dublin. For me, it's the ideal shopping pit stop and the main reason I allow myself to be dragged along on a shopping expedition in the first place. There's a small seating area inside and an even smaller seating area outside (if you enjoy a smoke with your coffee). But don't fret if it's full (it usually is), if you're in a rush and you can't be bothered waiting for a table, you can always grab a couple of slices of pizza to go. I really like this place so Steps of Rome gets a good four stars from me!
