To me, Wagamama isn't anything special really. The food is consistently tasty and not outrageously priced, but I think the fact that I could make most of the dishes myself makes me hesitant to pay a chain restaurant to do it for me. The atmosphere is trendy and upbeat, service is quick, and the location super convenient, but I am just not wowed by it.

Here’s the thing, I don’t particularly like Wagamamas, but it’s got nothing to do with the food, the staff or the service, it’s just the vibe in the place. It’s designed to mass produce and then shovel noodles into you while maximising space so they can get as many people as absolutely possible in there. I mean, the food’s fine and it’s obscenely priced or anything (although it is a little more than it probably needs to be), the service tends to be pretty fast, but I’ve so rarely come out of there feeling relaxed or having really, really enjoyed a meal. It always feels a little more hectic than it needs to be.

Then again, some of my friends love the atmosphere in the place and refuse to go anywhere else, so each to their own, I suppose. I do recommend trying it out, just so you’ll have an opinion.
